I have a new candle line that I will be transitioning into. Teaming up with Jel Ceramics I will now offer all future candles in a wheel thrown porcelain ceramic container. There will be a new container design every month. All new candles will not have the added essential oil, and I will be using a new formula for maximum throw (smell). Any old inventory that I have left will be discounted to make way for the new ad improved inventory.
The candles I the glass jars and wax melts I the plastic clam shells are made with a small amount of angelica root or white sage essential oil as the foundation ingredient. I do not cultivate and/or gather from any reservation, or even the USA. The essential oils are bought from Europe where they are extracted by distilled steam. I cannot wait for you to try and love these products, the benefits that are known to come from these essential oils are absolutely amazing. Thank you

The Story of Still Burning

for a millennia, the indigenous people of America have suffered unimaginable atrocities and near extinction, but we are still here and we are still burning strong.

Hello, friends, and welcome to Still Burning. My name is Jessica Elaine Lourence and this is my small business venture.

A little bit about me:

I currently live in Red Bluff, California, on a 1,000 acre ranch where I raise livestock with my husband and 4 beautiful children. I am a member of the Yurok Tribe- the largest Native American tribe in California. I grew up on the beautiful Yurok, Hupa, and Karuk Indian reservations- on the fascinating coast of Northern California. So, you will see elements of my culture, in my candles and in my other small business- ceramic pottery.

From the time I was small child, around the age of 7, I discovered that I had the desire to create and to be an entrepreneur. At that time, I started crocheting cap hats with tribal designs, to sell to members of the community. I started selling magazines door-to-door just to earn prizes and I even started to sell Avon and Body Shop too. In High School I discovered my passion for throwing ceramics- which is serving me well now. That same passion for crafting and a desire for success has stayed with me throughout the years. With the recent layoff from my 9-5 job, due to COVID-19, I’ve been able to take a deep dive back into crafting again. It started with my ceramics business JelCeramics (www.etsy.com/shop/jelceramics).

In my line of candles and wax melts, you will find beautiful tones of lilac, vanilla, and blackberry with undertones of either Angelica Root or White Sage.  The Sage line will be available soon.
